Too much good stuff

The world has been swirling , it seems, and I have not been collecting my thoughts as readily as I'd like to. But I have had several this morning. Sorry. For the most part I have been very appreciative of these articles I have accumulated here, and have included th URLs for you to read, if you haven't gotten them elsewhere. The piece from Op-Ed News, "Ameri-Conned" http://www.opednews.com/articles/Ameri-conned-by-hal-smith-080820-870.html really got my juices flowing (at o-dark thirty) and I went on a roll. The comment I made there is my contribution to the day.

By the way, I have been called to task for calling Michael Phelps "Mark" Phelps. That was an obscure reference to Mr. Spitz, who was the last olympic swimmer to be temporarily called the "world's greatest athlete". Nobody got the joke, so I won't do it again.

As a blogger said the other day, "I didn't know the Russians had invaded Atlanta". Well, they haven't but most of those in the know think our neo-cons set up the Georgians to start a fight so we could stick our noses in and be even more irrelevant. Thanks, Condi, for nothing. You are no help and you should stay home and play the piano or play with W. Laura won't care as long as you keep him out of her hair. And do you really expect us to believe that missles in Poland will protect the US from Iran? You have lost it completely and the MSM has bought it all, hook, line and sinker. Of course, most of us don't believe you can play the piano anyway. You sure can't play diplomat.

Let me see if I can post the rest of these lovely news items. More stuff you won't find on NBC, et.al.:

All of these should keep you busy for a few minutes, Jen won't want to read them and Barbara will wonder what I have been doing with my time.

Here's a high school math puzzle for you: If John McCain has 8 houses and leaves home, heading "straight" east in his wife's jet, at 2:00PM, and Obama has one house, and leaves home, heading west at 3:30 PM, with his secret service detail, in a black Chevy Suburban, what time will the two meet in Omaha to have steaks for lunch with that guy with all the money? Answer: It doesn't matter because McCain forgot which house to leave from and Obama is still in Chicago, talking to Oprah.

This campaign is a circus, and the Clinton's are sure to destroy the convention, party unity and McCain will win through the malaise and ennui of the American people. 100 years from now it won't matter because we will all be dead and our troops will still be in Iraq.

Is it still Olympic stuff?

Keith Olbermann reminded us all the other night that some guy you might remember (Jim Thorpe?) was probably far better suited for the title of "best athlete ever" than Mark Phelps. Phelps is one helluva swimmer, but memories of the dozen or so other physical feats of awesomeness that Thrope did without breaking a sweat should tamp down the flames of hysteria and sensationalism a bit. Now if Phelps was 12 years old, like those little girl Chinese gymnasts, it might be another story. If those mini-femmes are 16, then I am still 24. And we know that is a lie.

I have a new bumper sticker on my truck. It says, "One Nation Under God...and under Surveilance". Then I find out that the city if Beijing has 300,000 spy cameras mounted throughout the city...and that US technology has made it all possible? Why am I the last person to know about these things?

Meanwhile, openly pugnacious Republicans are decrying the invasion of sovereign Georgia by the Russian Bear while ( as many others have pointed out) the U.S. does this all the time and calls it the "spreading of democracy". And of course W is in Crawford, after patting the behinds of female volleyball players in China, Cheney has disappeared (thank God) and Condi is making wimpering sounds in Tiblisi over the bad manners and style of the Russkies. (Someone just recently questioned whether or not she can actually play the piano: my guess is it is only one of the many things she cannot do.)

Oh, and the news reported this morning that we are sending another 12-15,000 troops into Afghanistan. I thought the trouble was in Iraq? Is this a mini-surge? It must be the right thing to do: McCain says that Petraeus is the best military leader in the free world. He must know Mark Phelps.

And what do you suppose that Condi does with W behind those closed doors in the oval orifice?

Here's something you should know, if you don't already and have been locked in a cave:

As I said before, God has spoken and SHE has chosen wisely.

My teeth are working out nicely, it finally rained here and now I need to mow the weeds.
